Hook and Horn is a fisherman's dream, located along the Madison River, between Raynolds Pass Bridge and Quake Lake.  It began as 20-acre parcels, but many have been split into 10 and 5-acre lots.  Some of the lots are on a bench overlooking the river.  Very few of these properties come on the market, but occasionally you can find one of these gems offered for sale.

From its headwaters in Yellowstone National Park to its confluence to form the mighty Missouri, the Madison River is world famous among anglers as America's premier wild trout fishery.  The Madison flows through some of the most spectacular, wild and scenic landscapes in Montana.  Its valley, encompassing nearly a million acres, is home to abundant wildlife, sweeping vistas and open spaces.  The Madison River features superb dry fly fishing even for first-time novices; it has very high trout density per mile and it offers consistent fishing action.  Property along the Madison River is always in demand and there are very few subdivision lots on the water.  Most of the land along the Madison is public land or large ranches, so supply and demand dictates the market value of the few river properties which do come available.  There are properties along the Madison River throughout the valley, from Ennis Lake to Quake Lake.

Sphinx Mountain Subdivision is located approximately 14 miles south of Ennis and offers 20-acre lots with direct access to the Madison River through BLM land.  Power is along the highway.  Fantastic 360° views with that real "Big Sky" feeling.  This is fairly remote property and ideal for avid fishermen or someone wanting seclusion but not too far from town.  Covenants allow 4 horses per lot, no further subdivision of lots, homes must be built with at least 1200 SF living space and no more than 7 acres can be fenced. The subdivision lies between the highway and the river on two levels.  The upper bench has better access and closer to power and phone, with 360 deg. views.  The lower bench is on the river level with closer access to the river but farther from power and limited winter access. There is something for everyone.  Power & phone are available at the highway, but several owners have used alternative power very successfully.

The Historic town of Virginia City is known as the new "Williamsburg of the West."  It is an intact and preserved mining town - a true rarity.  Most of the buildings have been exactly where and how they stand for more than 130 years.  Downtown Virginia City features what is considered America's finest collection of 1860's to early 1870's "boomtown" buildings on their original sites.  There are approximately 135 year-around residents in Virginia City but it explodes during the summer when history buffs converge on this little hamlet in the mountains.  An investment in Virginia City is an investment in our own history.
